Thirty-two taxa (21 belonging to Bacillariophyta, 8 to Chlorophyta, 1 to Cyanophyta, 1 to Chrysophyta and 1 to Euglenophyta) were determined. Some physical factors, such as ice, light and temperature affected development of the phytoplankton community. In addition, wind and water current caused mixing between phytoplankton and benthic algae. Keywords : Phytoplankton, Littoral Zone, Taxonomy, Karagöl Lake, Turkey
