Samples of three mainly consumed three edible fish species, whiting, horse mackerel and anchovy, from the Black Sea
were analyzed for PCDD/Fs, dioxin-like PCBs and indicator PCBs. The results showed that PCDD/F-TEQ, dl-PCBs-TEQ and
indicator PCBs concentrations ranged between 0.28-0.91 pg/g fresh weight product, 0.56-1.89 pg/g fresh weight product and
3.05-10.94 ng/g fresh weight product, respectively. It is observed that with increasing fat content of the fishes most of
congeners’ concentrations increased. Measured values were below the maximum residue levels indicated in the EU
Commission Regulation “Setting maximum levels for certain contaminants in foodstuffs”.
